Window Tidy App Reviews

Highly useful app!

This is one of a few tools (such as PopClip) that I pretty much take for granted, as though they were a native OS X feature. The app is always updated in a timely manner and works great on everything from the Mac mini to the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, as well as the Retina 5K iMac.

Screen Real Estate

This app is a fantastic way to organize your windows on the screen, preventing the need to have to switch between windows frequently. Customizeable sizes and the drag-and-drop resize features are stellar. This app is great for those who are limited to one monitor and need to organize their windows!

Works great, but minor issues.

Works great but it seems to crash sometimes when I’m trying to create a layout in the preferences. I’m using OSX 10.10.3, MacBook Air 13-inch, Early 2014. Thanks for a great app!

great!

I worry about privacy when using Assistive apps. Naming is important if you want to do multiple variations on a theme. The act of entering multiple options of the same grid layout is more difficult than it should be. There should be a portrait vs landscape high-level option. 5-stars for functionality.

Stumbled on this and its amazing

Just came across this and its amazing. It should be part of the OS. Apple should just buy this and put in stock. I really love this. Would love to see what else these guys can up with. Very impressed. Ill be honest I really didnt understand this til buying and trying it but I will install on all my macs as an absolute must. Works perfect and just like you would like it to. How did I live with it out? I just boughit it ten minutes ago. Great work.

excellent app!

I have three monitors and tons of stuff going on at once all the time. This app works beautifully with multiple monitors and many different screen configurations.

Does it’s job exceptionaly well!

I use this tool every single day and it works flawlessly! Makes manging my application workspace so much more pleasant!

Very handy app

It saves me lots of clicking and dragging every day. I especially like the custom templates option.

Perfect balance of intuitive and flexible

The default layouts will get you started right away and illustrate the usefulness of the tool. If you can’t do what you want with the default layouts, the default grid for new layouts is just the right amount of granular to divide up most screens. If it’s not quite granular enough for a large monitor, you can modify the grid to what you like, and if THAT isn’t enough, you can create layouts down to the pixel, but those deeper layers aren’t exposed unless you need them (though they’re not hard to find) so what you end up with is a fully customizable, very powerful organizational tool that never feels overpowered while you’re using it.

Helps keep me organized

Window clutter is gone and my work stress level is reduced. I wish there were some keyboard hotkeys for frequently used window arrangements, though.

Use constantly

I work in digital QA and have a bazillion windows open all the time with reference docs, versions, etc. across three displays. I literally don’t know how I’d cope without Window Tidy. Never causes me a bit of trouble, just silently does exacaly what I need it to. Excellent app.

Works as advertised… really easy to get used to.

Does what it says on the tin. Not esential software, but I find myself missing it very much when working on other computers.

Best $ you’ll spend optimizing your experience

Window tidy essentially means doubling your usable screen area. By precisely controlling where every window shows up I can fit 2 or 3 active windows open at a time, each with key macros and drag-and-drop resizing. A second monitor? No problem! Separate layouts for each monitor? Got it! Super clean and easy.

GREAT!

Love Window tidy. Saves me lots of time trying to resize windows.

Great app.

I love this app and it is really configurable so it can be used for many different workflows. The only feature that I wish that this app had was window edge snapping. Some applications have size constraints and don’t get as small or big as I would like so having the ability to drag a window just a bit larger or smaller and it snapping to the other window would be great. As it is I just manually do it.

Great app, very useful!

Love this app. Allows me to keep a very large number of windows under control with minimal fiddeling.

I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS BUT I HATE THIS APP THAT MUCH. DOES NOT OPEN OR WORK. WASTE OF MONEY.

Bought this app in an effort to stay more organized on my new Mac. When I double click, the "transparent" square opens up as if it its going to open something, but nothing happens!!!! So disappointed. The developers of the app havent even gotten back to me or given me a refund, even though I emailed them 3 times... I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS BUT I HATE THIS APP THAT MUCH.

Needs update

This was a promising app, but the developer hasn’t updated it recently. I am running OS X El Capitan. The app doesn’t work on login and must be restarted to function correctly. I would like to see support for multiple displays, an icon for the dark menu bar, and design improvements to match the look and feel of El Capitan.

Great App!… But stop asking me to review

I like this app. I’ve even reviewed this app before, but just because you’ve updated to a newer version, or I’m installing on a clean system doesn’t mean I need to be spamed with a review request. ALSO, rather than a dialog pop up, how about using the notification system?? That would be a lot less intrusive.

Expensive but worth it!

Windows tidy is quicker and more flexible than El Capitan OS’s new multi-tasking features. The main advantages are customizable configurations for how you want to arrange your windows (split screen, quarter screen, left/right or top/bottom, etc.). There are also no application restrictions, e.g. Microsoft Excel will not go split screen under El Capitan’s built in feature, but obeys Window Tidy’s command immediately. Prior to El Capitan, this app was a must. Now, I might give pause to spend $8 unless I wanted more flexibility than just left/right split screens, which Capitan can do for most apps. That being said, this app is still a great productivity booster and would be perfect if it were, say, $5.
